SoFi Easy Money
I’ve completed nearly 40 checking and savings account sign-up bonuses over the past several years, which has led to a significant amount of extra money. Between checking and savings account bonuses, as well as credit card signup bonuses, it’s safe to say that this has been a consistent “side hustle” for me- amounting to well over $15,000 in cash at this point and at least that much in additional free travel. Out of all of these bonuses, the signup bonus from the SoFi Money account has been by far the easiest. I opened my account, and within 12 hours of funding the account (very quick when linking an existing bank account) the bonus had already been posted! Although this isn’t anywhere near the biggest bonus I’ve received on a new account, it was certainly the fastest and with the least number of stipulations, and all of that on an account that’s actually worth keeping!
A Solid Account to Keep
Most of the bank account bonuses that I’ve signed up for in the past were strictly to get the bonus as quickly as possible and then close the account. With SoFi Money that’s not the case. This account comes with a 1.8% interest rate (significantly higher than the majority of savings accounts… much less checking accounts), absolutely no account fees or minimums, and no ATM fees. That is practically unheard of for a checking account, although I certainly hope more accounts move in a similar direction in the future. It also comes with a unique debit card (pictured above) that gets a lot of attention. Initially, I intended to open the account only for the bonus, but when I looked into the benefits, I’ve decided to keep the account open and use it regularly. There are checking accounts out there that can beat the 1.8% interest rate, but they all come with requirements as well as fees which make them less desirable to me.
SoFi Money Current Signup Bonus
Currently SoFi is offering a $50 bonus when opening a new Sofi Money account through a referral link (mine is linked above) and funding the account with at least $100. That is the only requirement, simply fund the account with $100, and the bonus should post quickly afterward. Whether or not you decide to keep the account, there is no reason to pass up $50 for what took me a total of about 15 minutes to open!
Extra Money with SoFi Invest
Once you get the bonus from the SoFi Money account, you can get an additional $50 bonus for opening a SoFi Invest account through a referral link. This investment account reminds me of an account similar to Robinhood, but with a much better bonus for signing up. Robinhood offers a free “random” stock for signing up which can be valued anywhere between $2-$250, but in my experience the vast majority of the stocks issued are in the $5 range. Free money is free money, but I’d much rather have the $50. Then again, why not do both?
The sign-up offer for the SoFi Invest account right now is very similar to the SoFi Money account, with a $50 bonus after funding the account with at least $100. The best part about this additional bonus is that once you’ve opened the SoFi Money account, it only takes about 5 minutes to add the SoFi Invest account and it even uses the same login! I opened both of these accounts at the same time and it took me a total of about 20 minutes. Beware that the Invest account bonus took several business days to be added to my account compared to the 12 hours that the Money account took.
Take The Free Money!
I love bank account bonuses and am always on the look out for bonuses that I’m eligible for and aren’t too difficult. Both of these accounts are certainly worth the small effort and time required even if you decide not to keep the accounts. Both accounts having no fees and no minimum length of time to keep the funds in the accounts to receive the bonuses make them a no-brainer in my book. On top of that, a checking account with 1.8% interest and ATM reimbursements is really at the top of its class right now.
